These are composers whose music can be very dense, but is really logically constructed and ends up being REALLY cool to listen to when played right. Admittedly, I began writing this tune with the thought of "I'm going to write something hard just because," however this quickly evolved into an incredibly musically rewarding project to work on, even beyond its complexity! I'm so happy with the music on "Songs from In Between." What started as "I'm going to write and publish some tunes just to expand my portfolio" became "I'm going to make an album that will be a memory of how I wrote music before I went to grad school." I'm grateful to everyone who played on this album, and to everyone who is giving it a listen despite finding me as an arranger/cover artist before anything else. --------------------------------------------------- My name is Eric - and I play trombone! The Game is Afoot - Composed by Eric Ladish | from "Songs from In Between"

"The Game is Afoot" is my love letter to the story of Persona 5. From my album "Songs from In Between": https://linktr.ee/ericladish Purchase "The Game is Afoot": https://www.ericltrombone.com/product-page/the-game-is-afoot SUBSCRIBE for more new jazz music: https://www.youtube.com/ericltrombone SUPPORT my channel on Patreon for exclusive content! https://www.patreon.com/ericltrombone SUPPORT my channel on Ko-fi! https://ko-fi.com/ericltrombone --------------------------------------------------- Persona 5 is one of my favorite modern video games, both in terms of its soundtrack and its story. The rivalry between Joker and Akechi is painted in such an interesting way (it reminds me a lot of Light vs. L in Death Note). The constant game of cat-and-mouse the two play is such a riveting tale of the dueling ideals of justice - and that battle is precisely what this tune was written about! In writing this tune, I did give myself the challenge of trying to write music that actively didn't sound like Persona 5's soundtrack (there were a few spots I just couldn't help myself). My primary musical inspirations for this tune included Zac Zinger (in particular, "Hiphopcrisy" from his record "Fulfillment" comes to mind), as well as the big band music of Bob Mintzer. This is one of my favorite things I've written in a really long time and I would love for as many people to hear it as possible, so if you enjoy this please consider sending it to friends & colleagues you think might also enjoy it! More jazz big band music and more Split Screen on the way soon! --------------------------------------------------- Social Media: Website: https://www.ericltrombone.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/EricLTrombone Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ericltrombone/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@ericltrombone Personnel: Altos: @SabIrene Tenors: @downtownelijahbrown Bari: @JDmusicwoodwinds Lead Trumpet: @casey-brefka Section Trumpets: Eric Ladish (hey that's me!) Another Lifetime - Composed by Eric Ladish | from "Songs from In Between"

My original jazz big band music is NOW AVAILABLE! Please enjoy my ECM-style, bossa nova power-ballad, "Another Lifetime." From my album "Songs from In Between": https://linktr.ee/ericladish Purchase "Another Lifetime": https://www.ericltrombone.com/product-page/another-lifetime SUBSCRIBE for more new jazz music: https://youtube.com/ericltrombone SUPPORT my channel on Patreon for exclusive content! https://patreon.com/ericltrombone SUPPORT my channel on Ko-fi! https://ko-fi.com/ericltrombone --------------------------------------------------- I feel that the program notes best summarize the meaning of this tune: "At its core, 'Another Lifetime' is a breakup song. I wrote this tune after a very serious long-term relationship I was in ended abruptly. While this chart is primarily about the bittersweetness of a romantic breakup, those feelings can also apply to the end of any kind of valuable interpersonal relationship. Whether it's a life partner or a close friend you've drifted apart from, there's almost always a fondness for the memories you created together that'll be missed--even if the end of that relationship is ultimately for the best. The memory of what things used to be often left me with the thought that in another lifetime, things might've worked out differently--hence the title." This is the first of 5 original charts I've had recorded by professional musicians, all of which are available for purchase on my website! I've been really excited about this project for a long time, and I'm very pleased to share the results of my work with the world. I will plan to upload one new original big band chart to YouTube per month - please stay tuned for more of my work! --------------------------------------------------- My name is Eric - and I play trombone! Corridors of Time Jazz Fusion Cover - Chrono Trigger | Split Screen

Ladies, gentlemen, and nonbinary friends: it is my distinct pleasure to introduce "Split Screen," VGM's newest jazz fusion band! Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/splitscreenvgm/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/SplitScreenVGM --------------------------------------------------- Split Screen is an idea that I've had for a few years, and have just never made the time/gotten out of my own way to start. Making music on your own is fun, but MAN is it so much more rewarding to work on with a group of incredible musicians like this one. Being the JRPG fan that I am, I couldn't think of a more appropriate tune to start Split Screen with! The music of Chrono Trigger has always had a hold on me, and Corridors of Time has been one of my favorites for the longest time (it may be my second "Dearly Beloved", and if you've been here for a long time you know what I mean by that). By far, my favorite part to write was the metric modulation toward the middle - you'll know it when you hear it ;) We will be launching our next video in a few weeks! My intent with this group is to maintain a schedule of roughly one video per month, eventually culminating in an album of high quality VGM jazz arrangements - to give you all something to look forward to :) --------------------------------------------------- We are Split Screen! Dearly Beloved Jazz Cover - Kingdom Hearts || Split Screen (for March Caprice 4)

Dearly Beloved but it's in 5/4 but also 7/8 but also there's a 4:5 polyrhythm Check out our debut album! https://linktr.ee/splitscreenvgm SUBSCRIBE for more video game music: https://www.youtube.com/ericltrombone SUPPORT my channel on Patreon for exclusive content! https://www.patreon.com/ericltrombone Follow Split Screen on Social Media! Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/splitscreenvgm Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/splitscreenvgm --------------------------------------------------- If you've followed my channel for an extended period of time, you'll know that I've written MANY arrangements of "Dearly Beloved" - I think this is number 7? This particular version has been sitting in my head for a long time, I just haven't known how to execute it: until Split Screen, that is! The 4-note main theme of "Dearly Beloved" is a simple one, and because I'm stupid and have a jazz degree I decided the most fun way to play with it would be a 4:5 polyrhythm. It's Dearly Beloved jazz, but silly. Additionally, I'd like to formally welcome our absolute ROCKSTAR of a guitarist Kenan Salazar! I met Kenan at a recording session in Boston with longtime friend & frequent collaborator Charles Ritz, and as we finished production of the first Split Screen album I knew I wanted to get him in on what we're working on. Kenan has been incredible to work with, and I hope you all look forward to hearing more of him in future Split Screen arrangements! Split Screen is alive and kicking! We're hard at work preparing to play VGM Con next month, and already recording music for our next album (including this one)! --------------------------------------------------- We are Split Screen!
